Huckabee’s take on Biden’s vote tally doesn’t add up

Mike Huckabee said at the RNC:

[Palin] got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States.

It’s hard to count a way this isn’t an atrocious lie. According to Wasilla public records, Sarah Palin received 1560 votes in her two successful mayoral campaigns. Biden received 79,754 votes in the 2008 Democratic primaries.

It’s of note that Huckabee formerly governed Arkansas, which ranks 43rd in the nation for 8th graders proficient in math.

yeah, i was kind of shocked when he said that. i didn’t know if it was true or not at the time, but it sure didn’t seem it.

Hyperbole, it’s a literary tool morons.

  3. BH Says:

No one has ever cast a vote to elect Biden POTUS.

Now I am not a supporter of the Rep party.. but to look further.. was it possible that state by state he didn’t get same numbers of votes?

Hmm no.. cause even in an even division of all 50 states.. 79,754 / 50 is 1595 which for all you 8th graders is 35 more votes than Palin.

  5. DWA Says:

No one has ever cast a vote to elect Sarah Palin POTUS either.

On another point: A campaign speech is not a literary work. In politics, a bald-faced lie might be called hyperbole by apologists for the candidate or his or her surrogates, but most people recognize it for what it is–a blatant lie.
